Recently I was asked by a sweet mum if I would make her a custom nappy from the Alexander Henry Sugar Skulls fabric collection. I was game to try but sewing with cotton is one of my worst fears. All you cloth nappy users out there know how important it is for cloth nappies to not leak or wick. There is nothing worse than being out and having a leak, someone seeing you are using cloth and giving you that all knowing "that's why I use disposibles" stare. Cotton is one of those fabrics moisture loves to cling to so making a non-leaking cotton outer nappy is a little trickier than when I use poly. All in all, it turned out great. Skulls are not really my thing but I have to admit, this is probably the coolest thing I have ever made - HANDS.DOWN. It has a hidden layer of PUL and has been specially cut away from the legs to reduce the chance of leaks. It is not a nighttime nappy but should work just fine during the day. She ordered two and I think her LOs are going to be just adorable in these!
