The latest...and maybe the greatest!

My Etsy shop has been a little empty of late but that doesn't mean my machine has been quiet, by no means! On the contrary, it has been going non-stop! I do have to give a little credit and thanks to my dear husband who has allowed me (I say "allow" but he really didn't have a choice!) to take over the dining room. We no longer have a dining room in this house - it is now the sewing room. Unfortunately due to my multiple personalities sewing style it is hardly ever tidy or organized which I'm sure has to drive his type A personality self crazy! He is very patient and has never said a single word about it. So thanks DH. :)

Recently I was asked by a sweet mum if I would make her a custom nappy from the Alexander Henry Sugar Skulls fabric collection. I was game to try but sewing with cotton is one of my worst fears. All you cloth nappy users out there know how important it is for cloth nappies to not leak or wick. There is nothing worse than being out and having a leak, someone seeing you are using cloth and giving you that all knowing "that's why I use disposibles" stare.  Cotton is one of those fabrics moisture loves to cling to so making a non-leaking cotton outer nappy is a little trickier than when I use poly. All in all, it turned out great. Skulls are not really my thing but I have to admit, this is probably the coolest thing I have ever made - HANDS.DOWN. It has a hidden layer of PUL and has been specially cut away from the legs to reduce the chance of leaks. It is not a nighttime nappy but should work just fine during the day.  She ordered two and I think her LOs are going to be just adorable in these!

Welcome!

I'm entering the "blogisphere" for the first time a little intimidated, a little excited. Not sure how this will all pan out but I mainly started this as a place to let you all (friends, customers, customers who are now friends, those who are just being nosey!) know what I am up to.

I am a crafter of multiple personalities. One day I am crafting nappies (or diapers to those of you in the US!), the next bonnets and the next, who knows! I recently made a "mock-waldorf" doll for my daughter (who will from now on be known as "A") which I LOVED but I really have had to erase all thoughts of doing another. Repeat, after me..."I DO NOT need another hobby!"

This post is just my first to get me started. I really want to see if I can just figure this whole thing out! Over the next month or so keep your eyes peeled for:

  • Sprout Snap Custom Diaper Giveaway (whoo!)
  • Fall/winter Beautiful Bonnet Pictures and Tutorial
  • And much more! (this means I have no clue what else will show up here but will think of something AWESOME soon! )

Thanks for stopping by!
